Understanding the Science of Stress and Disease : A Path for Disease Free Future
“It’s not stress that kills us, it is our reaction to it.” — Dr. Hans Selye
I see most of my dearly ones getting some sort of illness at instances. It takes me down at emotional level. I’ve been wondering about how it could be cured and I always wanted to understand the underlying reason for a disease. Whence I delved in further I found something that has more impact on creating a ‘Dis-ease’. Its;
“STRESS”
Its always behind my mind, “How to make our closest ones ‘Stress Free’.
As I sat reading “Becoming Supernatural” by Dr. Joe on a lazy Sunday morning, I was struck by the profound impact stress can have on our lives. Thence, I started to explore the science of stress , disease and how these two fascinating fields of study, ‘Epigenetics’, and ‘Quantum physics’, [of-course I had read in detail about these concepts] may hold the key to unlocking our body’s natural healing mechanisms. To understand further, it is necessary to understand the basic philosophies.
How do we get disease?
Disease can result from a variety of factors, including genetics, environmental factors, lifestyle choices, and stress. According to the book “The Biology of Belief” by Dr. Bruce Lipton [one of my Favs ofcourse ! ],
“…the latest research in epigenetics shows that our genes are not fixed, but can be turned on or off by our environment and our beliefs.”
Think a while and read it again..
Yes ! you read it right. We can turn on and off our genes. Its just our belief that do it us.
This means that our lifestyle choices, such as diet, exercise, and stress management, can have a significant impact on our health and our risk of developing disease. Environmental factors, such as pollution and exposure to toxins, can also contribute to disease. In addition, stress is a well-known risk factor for many health problems, including heart disease, cancer, and autoimmune disorders. By understanding the various factors that can contribute to disease, we can make more informed choices about our health and take proactive steps to reduce our risk of developing disease.
The Link Between Stress and Disease
Chronic stress is a pervasive and often unavoidable part of modern life. Even a Kinder Garden student is stressed of certain happenings.
Remember our forefathers have not heard of the word ‘Stress’. It is a Boggart. Use the ’Riddikulus’ to get rid of it.
[Sorry ! only a Harry Potter fan would understand this.]
When we experience stress, our bodies produce the hormone cortisol, which triggers the “fight or flight” response. While this response can be helpful in the short term, prolonged exposure to cortisol can lead to a host of health problems, including cardiovascular disease, obesity, diabetes, and depression. In fact, research has shown that chronic stress is a significant risk factor for many of the leading causes of death in the developed world.
Epigenetics: How Genes Interact with the Environment
“We are not prisoners of our genes, but have the power to shape their expression.” — Bruce Lipton
Epigenetics says that,
You are moulded by the environment you live, rather than your Genes.
Epigenetics is the study of how our genes are expressed and how they interact with the environment. While we may have a genetic predisposition to certain diseases, our environment and lifestyle play a significant role in determining whether or not those genes are expressed. Stress can modify the expression of certain genes, leading to the development of diseases such as cancer, heart disease, and autoimmune disorders.
Quantum Physics: The Science of Energy and Matter
“Everything in the universe, including us, is made up of energy, and this energy is constantly interacting with other energy.” — Amit Goswami
Quantum physics is the branch of physics that studies the behavior of matter and energy at the atomic and subatomic level. According to quantum physics, everything in the universe is made up of energy, including our bodies. This means that we are not just physical beings but also energetic beings, and our thoughts and emotions can have a significant impact on our physical health.
The Mind-Body Connection: How Thoughts and Emotions Affect Health
“The body is the servant of the mind. It obeys the operations of the mind, whether they be deliberately chosen or automatically expressed.” — James Allen
The mind-body connection is the idea that our thoughts, emotions, and beliefs can have a significant impact on our physical health. People who experience chronic stress or negative emotions have a higher risk of developing certain diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. On the other hand, people who practice mindfulness meditation or other stress-reducing techniques have been shown to have lower levels of stress hormones and a lower risk of developing chronic diseases.
The Power of Intention: How Positive Thinking Can Heal the Body
“By choosing our thoughts and perceptions, we can change the neural functioning of our brains.” — Dr. Joe Dispenza
The power of intention is the idea that our thoughts and beliefs can have a direct impact on our physical health and well-being. According to Dr. Joe, the key to unlocking the body’s natural healing mechanisms is to cultivate positive thoughts and emotions. By focusing our attention on positive outcomes and visualizing our desired state of health, we can train our minds and bodies to work together in a state of coherence, which is the optimal state for healing.
Keep Calm and get rid of Disease
Calmness and stress reduction can play a vital role in preventing and even reversing disease.
In the book “The Relaxation Response,” Herbert Benson and Miriam Z. Klipper write, “The relaxation response is a physical state of deep rest that changes the physical and emotional responses to stress…This state of deep relaxation decreases metabolism, lowers blood pressure, and improves blood flow to the major muscles.” By practicing techniques such as deep breathing, meditation, and yoga, we can activate the relaxation response and reduce the impact of stress on our bodies. This, in turn, can lead to a reduction in inflammation, improved immune function, and a lower risk of chronic disease. By prioritizing stress reduction and incorporating relaxation techniques into our daily routine, we can improve our overall health and well-being.
Get a mindset to be free from disease
Getting a mindset to be free from disease is a crucial step towards improving our health and well-being. As Dr. Joe Dispenza writes in “Becoming Supernatural,”
“Your body is not just a passive lump of matter that is subject to the forces of nature. It is an energetic system that can be influenced and even controlled by your thoughts, beliefs, and emotions.”
By adopting a positive mindset and focusing on our health and well-being, we can activate our body’s natural healing mechanisms and improve our chances of staying disease-free. This involves making intentional choices about our lifestyle, nutrition, exercise, and stress management, and being proactive about our health. By taking control of our health in this way, we can live a happier, healthier, and more fulfilling life.
Take Away — Just Keep Calm
Stress is a significant risk factor for many of the leading causes of death in the developed world. By understanding the science of stress and disease and taking practical steps to reduce stress and improve our health, we can unlock our body’s natural healing mechanisms and live a healthy and fulfilling life.
As Dr. Joe Dispenza says in “Becoming Supernatural,” “We are not doomed by our genes and hardwired to be a certain way for the rest of our lives. We have the power to change our biology and become supernatural.” So let us take charge of our health and become the best version of ourselves that we can be.
Keep Calm ! Disease would fly away..
“Always remember, Your absence in this planet would never bother You. But to a whole lot of people whom you love, it does” .
So ‘STAY CALM’
